Your questions answered.

The secondary school application deadline is Saturday 31 October 2026. If you're considering St Aloysius' College for your child, we're here to help you understand the application process and take the next steps with confidence.

We've brought together answers to some of the questions families most frequently ask.

1. How do I apply for a Year 7 place at St Aloysius' College?

Applications for September 2027 entry are made through the local authority where your child lives.

You will need to complete the online secondary school application, listing St Aloysius' College among your preferred schools.

Important: St Aloysius' also has a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and a banding assessment as part of its admissions arrangements. Please read the information below carefully so you don't miss any required steps.

2. When is the application deadline?

The deadline for submitting your secondary school application is Saturday 31 October 2026.

We strongly recommend applying well in advance rather than leaving everything until the final day.

3. What is a Supplementary Information Form (SIF)?

The SIF allows St Aloysius' to collect additional information relevant to its admissions criteria, including information about a child's religious background where applicable.

The form is separate from the local authority application and should be returned directly to St Aloysius' College, following the instructions provided.

You can find the SIF and the school's admissions policy on our Admissions webpage.

Please remember: completing the SIF does not replace your local authority application.

4. What is the banding assessment?

St Aloysius' uses a banding assessment as part of its admissions arrangements.

The school will provide applicants with details of the assessment, including the arrangements for taking part and any preparation or practical information families need to know.

5. Do we need to live in Islington to apply?

No. Families living in neighbouring boroughs, including Camden, Haringey and Hackney, can apply to St Aloysius' College.

You should submit your application through the local authority where you live, even if St Aloysius' is located in a different borough.

All applications are considered according to the school's published admissions arrangements.

6. Is St Aloysius' College open to girls and boys?

Yes! St Aloysius' is now proudly co-educational, welcoming girls and boys into its Year 7 intake.

Our school combines a long-established educational tradition with an exciting new chapter, offering an ambitious, supportive and inclusive environment in which young people can thrive.

7. Do families need to be Catholic to apply?

St Aloysius' is a Catholic school that welcomes applications from families of all faiths and backgrounds.

Our values of courage, dignity, forgiveness and justice are at the heart of school life. Families should consult the published admissions policy for full details of the criteria used when allocating places.
