St Aloysius’ College celebrates strong GCSE results
Students at St Aloysius’ College are celebrating another strong set of GCSE results, with outstanding individual performances and outcomes once again exceeding national figures.
The Assembly Hall was buzzing with excitement on Thursday morning as Year 11 students opened their results and celebrated the culmination of five years of hard work.
Among the standout achievements was an exceptional performance from Chrishna M, who secured ten grade 9s – the highest possible grade across all ten of his GCSE subjects. Chrishna thanked staff for the pivotal role they had played in his success and is now looking forward to beginning his A-Level studies.
Across the cohort, 25% of students achieved seven or more grades at 7–9, while the college recorded:
- 32% of grades at 7+
- 60% of grades at 5+
- 74% of grades at 4+
The results follow last week’s excellent Sixth Form outcomes, when 81% of A-Level grades were awarded at A–C*, rounding off a successful examination season for the College.
Headteacher Paula Whyte congratulated students on their achievements:
“We are so proud of our young men. They have worked diligently, supported by their dedicated teachers and families, and these excellent results are richly deserved. We are excited to see them embark on the next phase of their education.”
Results Day was made even more special by a visit from Deputy Mayor of Islington Jilani Chowdhury and Councillor Sheila Chapman, Executive Member for Equalities, Communities and Inclusion, who joined students and staff in celebrating their achievements.
For Ms Whyte, the results also provide a fitting conclusion to her six-year tenure as Headteacher of St Aloysius’ College.
“As Headteacher, I am extremely proud of what pupils, staff and parents have achieved. Our 2026 GCSE results, together with our strong A-Level outcomes, confirm that St Aloysius’ College continues to offer outstanding educational opportunities for our young people.”
The College now looks towards another important milestone in its history. In September, a second cohort of girls will join Year 7 as St Aloysius’ continues its transition to co-education, with boys and girls learning together in Years 7 and 8 alongside the College’s established mixed Sixth Form. The school's official status is now mixed.
Ms Whyte added:
“With our second cohort of girls joining Year 7 in September, we look forward to extending the same high standards of education and care to all.”
