St Aloysius’ College has received a letter of congratulations from the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, recognising the College’s exceptional outcomes for disadvantaged pupils at the end of the 2024/25 academic year.

In her letter to Headteacher Paula Whyte, the Secretary of State praised the school’s performance, noting that the results place St Aloysius’ College “among the very best nationally” — a significant achievement reflecting both the dedication of staff and the hard work of pupils.

The letter highlights the role of ambition and commitment in driving success and commends the College for the opportunities it provides to ensure pupils are able to thrive, regardless of background. The Secretary of State also expressed her thanks to staff and students alike for their collective efforts in securing such strong outcomes.

Looking ahead, the Department for Education encouraged St Aloysius’ College to continue to build on its success by sharing effective practice with others and contributing to system-wide improvement. This includes active engagement with regional networks, collaboration with neighbouring schools and trusts, and sustained focus on raising standards for disadvantaged pupils.

The letter concludes by recognising the College’s achievements as an example of what is possible within the education system and expressing optimism for continued partnership in the shared mission of improving outcomes for all young people.
