A Level Results Day 2020: Celebrating Continued Outstanding Post 16 Success!
St Aloysius’ College are delighted to report continued outstanding post 16 success at the school. Students and staff have worked well together to overcome the challenges of post 16 preparation, especially this year, securing 38% A*-B grades, 77 % A*-C grades and 98% A*-E grades. Although it is difficult to compare with results from last year, it is pleasing that our results continue to be above local and national outcomes. Progress measures at the school remain strong.
Associate Headteacher, Andy English says, “these results have provided a platform on which students can build a successful future.” Many students have accepted places at top universities, including the prestigious Russell Group Universities.
The following students secured exceptional results at A Level: Oliver Langton achieved AAB and will study Television and Broadcasting at University of Portsmouth; Kai Appleby achieved ABB and will study Psychology and Biology at Newcastle University; Jacky Lee achieved A* A B and will study Animation at University of Hertfordshire, Zain Jivraj achieved AAB and will study Law at Warwick University, and Mariapaula who achieved ACC will study Business Management at Brunel University.
Exceptional results were also obtained on BTEC courses with an outstanding number of Distinctions (D) awarded, including; Dylan McGuigian who achieved D*DD and is undertaking a work placement in the film industry; Menhaz Uddin achieved D*DD and will study Marketing at Queen Mary University; Guilherme Correia achieved DDD and will study Marketing at University of Essex; and Syed Hoque achieved DDD and will study Business Management and Accounting at Queen Mary University.
We were delighted to have Mayor of Islington Rakhia Ismail; Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz (Executive Member for Children, Young People and Families, Islington), and Ms Carmel Littleton (Director for Children's Services in Islington) celebrate with our students this morning. Cllr Ismail praised the leadership of the school and said, “the community should be extremely proud of the young people’s achievements”. Cllr Comer-Schwartz added, “It is wonderful to see the continued progress of the students at St Aloysius’ College, especially at this challenging time. It’s clear that through the hard work and support of staff the whole school have reason to be very proud”.
Director for Children's Services Carmel Littleton congratulated all staff and students at St Aloysius’ College on their great success and “continued excellent trajectory in an exceptionally challenging year”.
We wish all of our students well into the future as they prepare for life at university, apprenticeship and employment.
Headteacher designate, Ms Paula Whyte says the “2020 A-level results are very promising” and as new Headteacher, looks “forward to working with our students, our staff, parents and Governors to ensure a continued upward trend especially at the top grades A*-B.”
